Feast on Chorlton Food and Drink Festival

Wednesday 23.09.09, 1:26pm

Lisa Higginson

Chorlton is set to showcase its culinary credentials during a two-week foodie fringe designed to run alongside Manchester Food and Drink Festival 2009. The south Manchester suburb is flourishing with a wealth of food and drink retailers, producers, restaurants, cafes and bars that will be celebrated during the ninth annual Chorlton Food and Drink Festival (October 1 – 12).

More than 30 of the area’s independent outlets will be taking part in this year’s festival, which boasts a packed programme of events. From edible mushroom hunts to autumn ale festivals, Mexican cookery classes to gourmet dinner evenings - and not to mention cupcake happy hours and half price cocktails – there is plenty going on to whet your appetite.

Among the events and offers happening during CFDF there will be free Belgium Waffle sampling and Belgian hot chocolate tasting at Coffee ‘n’ Chocolate (514 Wilbraham Road), The Dulcimer Real Ale and Cider Festival (567 Wilbraham Road), Sicilian Wine Sampling at North Star Deli (418 Wilbraham Road), An Autumn Feast at Ostara (456-458 Barlow Moor Road) and a Gourmet Club Evening at Beggars Bush (48 Beech Road).
