A pub in the beautiful Ribble Valley has announced its fourth Game Fest, from November 11-15.
And no, city-dwellers, this is not some Playstation event, it's all about meat! In the midst of shooting season, The Red Pump Inn will be serving the finest locally sourced game, including pheasant, venison, hare and partridge.
The pub has already been given Olive magazine's Committed Carnivores award, and is included once again in the 2010 Michelin list.
Now in its fourth year, Game Fest is showing increasing popularity with reservations already filling up. A daily-changing menu, with dishes including jugged hare, pheasant leg confit , venison hotpot and the very popular rabbit fest dish (confit leg of rabbit, homemade rabbit haggis and pan seared loin) will grace the Inn’s usual menu, bringing many diners on repeat visits throughout the week.
Owner and committed carnivore Martina Myerscough said: "Game Fest week is always special, you seriously can’t beat the produce from this part of the world for fresh, rich, superb taste, and our love for it shows in our unique menu.
"We get diners from all over the country coming to taste the great game dishes during the week and have ongoing requests to email customers when specific items are on. It’s wonderful so many people are discovering, returning to, and experiencing this truly wonderful food.
"Game, in its many variations, is a fantastic meat to cook; rich and comforting as well as healthy and light, and here at the Red Pump Inn GameFest week symbolizes the start of our customer's winter dining."
With the Inn’s roaring fires and cosy dining rooms, there’s no doubt Game Fest makes the start of winter seem not so bad at all.
