Alchemist brings its cocktail magic to its new Alderley Edge venture

25 May 2016

THE Alchemist Bar and Restaurant chain continues its quest for world domination by taking over the current Grill on the Edge site in Alderley Edge.

Grill on the Edge will close its doors immediately after the May Bank Holiday for a refurb.

Simon Potts, MD of The Alchemist said: “We’re delighted to be creating a suburban vision of The Alchemist and feel that Alderley Edge, a village we’ve known and loved at Living Ventures for many years, will be the perfect place to continue our exciting expansion plans.

“We believe that the casual all day restaurant element of the business; serving brunch, lunch and dinner alongside our beautifully crafted cocktails, will be a perfect fit for the village and look forward to welcoming guests later this summer.”

The Alchemist in Manchester’s Spinningfields was the first of Living Ventures’ inventive cocktail bars with a focus on molecular and scientific concoctions. Today over five years later, their mixologists are renowned across the city and beyond and still pushing the boundaries. Like any self-respecting alchemist would.

TOM recommends the Smokey Old Fashioned (pictured), while the sharing cocktail The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party (which really is smokey!) is also a firm favourite.

The Alchemist today is a stand-alone business under the Living Ventures’ umbrella.  It has five sites nationwide (two in Manchester, two in Leeds and one in London) with a turnover of £11million in the last financial year, and employing over 250 people. Liverpool is set to open in June.
