Bistrotheque and London House collective looks an exciting addition to the scene

EXCITING food news accompanying the revamp of London Warehouse on Ducie Street. Due to open spring 2019, the new project will combine apart-hoteliers Native, leaders in boutique fitness BLOK and groundbreaking London restaurateurs Bistroteque.

The latter are no strangers to a warehouse backdrop, being based in a converted clothing factory in the East End. We’ve heard great things of chef director Blaine Duffy (pictured above) and his team. Check out their current menu here

Bistrotheque was founded by Pablo Flack & David Waddington. They met in Shoreditch during the mid 1990s, where David followed Pablo asgeneral manager of the Bricklayers Arms, a pub often credited as helping to establish the East End social scene.

By 2004 they had found, developed and opened Bistrotheque, which quickly became a favourite of the creative crowd. Its aim – to offer uncomplicated good food, drink and service. In 2006 Bistrotheque were the first people to put the words pop-up and restaurant together. This led to four major temporary projects: The Reindeer, FLASH, Studio East Dining and King’s Cross Filling Station. In 2013 they created Hoi Polloi for Ace Hotel London Shoreditch.

Bistrotheque projects have won two coveted D&AD Yellow Pencils, a RIBA Small Project Award, Time Out Local Favourite, Tatler Best Room and the London Restaurant Festival Award for Innovation.

So enlisting them is a canny move by the new London Warehouse set-up. We love the building but in the past its aparthotel and dining out credentials have been underwhelming. Native are looking to change that, creating 166 high specification suites.

Bistrotheque will directly operate the ground floor, turning it into an all-day hangout complete with lounge, restaurant, coffee counter, mini cinema, bar, meetings rooms, private dining and outdoor terraces. Alongside ewill be  award-winning BLOK combining  fitness, art, design and fashion with their first gym space outside of London.
