Brewdog Outpost rolls into University Green – with its own micro brewery

20 June 2019

MORE craft beer? Well, we never seem to lose the taste. The latest arrival is a huge new BrewDog bar adding to the mix at Bruntwood's £50m University Green development off Oxford Road that already includes the likes of Takk (coffee), Mowgli (Indian street food), Five Guys (burgers) and the new Blackwell’s bookstore that seems more like ‘Costa Coffee with books’ rather than the academic bastion of before.

Opening on Friday, April 21, BrewDog Outpost, in contrast, is very much its own beast – a much bigger beast than the original Manchester outlet in Peter Street (one of 90 now worldwide). It will offer the usual core range – Punk IPA, Dead Pony Pale Ale etc – but also one-off small batch beers from its own on-site microbrewery. You can book tours of this, join their brewing 'school' too and buy take-outs from the shop.

This new concept for the maverick Scottish company was pioneered first at a branch near London's Tower Bridge. The formula is being repeated at Outpost with an emphasis on matching beer to food.

Brewdog Outpost, 144 Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9GP.
