COLLABORATIVE VEG AND HERB ‘PATCH’ LAUNCHES AT ANGEL SQUARE

18 August 2019 by Neil Sowerby

GET green-fingered this Autumn as NOMA invite you to take part in new project, Patch – a neighbourhood kitchen garden where you can get involved in growing, nurturing and making things for free.

With weekly workshops beginning on Thursday, August 22, Patch is designed to promote  having-a-go at gardening and making used of the subsequent produce

The first series of workshops will cover everything from preparing the ground and learning about the basics of composting, to planting vegetables which will be ready to harvest in winter. These will take place at Angel Square between 12pm-3pm every Thursday for the six weeks. Here’s the programme:

August 22: Make Your Bed And Eat It Preparing the ground for the kitchen garden. August 29: Brassic Park – The Frost World Join the team to plant veg to be harvested in winter. September 5: Long Time No See Showing you how to plant onion, garlic – and that's shallot. September 12: Meet The Herbs Sage advice on herbal propagation. September 19: Dirty Rotten Ground Rules Composting for beginners.  September 26: Water Butt How? Learn how to make a water butt.

Between these workshops, participants are encouraged to stay involved, by researching questions and taking photos to share progress at Patch with #PatchNOMA.

Patch is being delivered by Standard Practice, the design team behind The Pilcrow and the Old Bank Residency, on behalf of NOMA. They are working in collaboration with Manchester Urban Diggers (MUD) – who also manage Platt Fields Market Garden – to ensure participants feel empowered by their new skills and that Patch is always growing to its best.

All Patch workshops are free to attend and everyone is welcome to take part. For more details, visit this link
