Fermented apple heads get their own dedicated cider festival at Fairfield

15 May 2019 by Neil Sowerby

WHICH cider will be the apple of your eye at the upcoming Fairfield Cider Fête (Sunday, May 26)? There are over 90 to choose from and if you sample even half of them you’ll be totally Wurzelled for the Spring Bank Holiday.

Actually cider is a serious tipple these days with more than 20 artisan producers lined up for what organisers GRUB dub ‘Manchester’s only dedicated craft cider festival’.

As the name suggests, the venue is GRUB’s winter home, the Fairfield Social Club in ironic old Temperance Street, site of similarly ambitious  beer festivals.

Street food gurus GRUB have teamed up with Hogan's Cider, who will be curating a brilliant line-up of ciders and producers including Ketish Pip, Turners and Cotswold Cider Co. and many more.

Showcased will be a wide variety of ciders from the traditional apple, to pear, elderflower and even a lemonade perry, that will be pouring across three bars from keg, hand pull, bottle and, inevitably for fermented apple heads bag in box.

This is a perfect way to spend a bank holiday Sunday full of summer vibes and ice cold cider. This year the cider will be accompanied by street food on site, too.

GRUB director Jason Bailey told us: “Last year we had such a good time at the cider fete we had to bring it back! And Hogan’s did an amazing job picking out some smashing cider, they’ve promised it’s an even more exciting line-up this year.”
