IT’S hard to credit but Spanish wine and food stalwart Evuna on Deansgate is nearing its 15th birthday. What started a standalone wine importing venture by Frances Dowler and her daughter Jane now also encompasses outlets in the Northern Quarter and Knutsford.
To these will be added a fourth come late autumn, it has been announced – on Stamford Road Altrincham, subject to permission granted for an alcohol licence.
The new restaurant will occupy the former Yorkshire bank site at 84-86 Stamford New Road, vacated by health food specialists EAT:kaizen and follow the tested Evuna template of tapas, paella and interesting small producer Iberian regional wines. There will be a 24-seater bar, 50 restaurant covers with a further 20 on an outside terrace.
This is territory Evuna eyed up before but a Hale project failed to materialise. The success of their Knutsford branch (pictured) in the the mock Tudor former Smallbones store on King Street obviously encouraged the latest expansion. Altrincham’s gain.
