Fruitful Whitefield spreads its culinary net with Vine’s arrival

20 November 2017

THE opening of The Vine Brasserie on Bury New Road completes a gastronomic triangle for up and coming Whitefield. Two doors away is David Gale’s One88 Kitchen (a ToM 5 star review and new Good Food Guide entry), while across the road is the HQ of evergreen chocolatier and King of Wedding Cakes John Slattery.

The Vine, a 90-seater, all-day French-style brasserie, is the first indie venture of Levent Bilgic, formerly restaurant manager at The Anatolian Grill in Prestwich with a past CV that includes Heathcotes and Harvey Nichols.

Food here, promises Turkish-born Levent, will be fresh and Mediterranean-inspired menu,  served in a relaxed, brasserie environment. Expect confit duck with choucroute, creamy mash and kirsch cherries or pan-roasted chicken breast plus plenty of tapas. A substantial wine and cocktail list completes the relaxed picture.

The Vine Brasserie, 184 Bury New Road, Whitefield, Manchester M45 6QF. 0161 280 0277.
