Funnyman Hardeep Singh Kohli curries favour at The Gasworks

22 November 2016 by Neil Sowerby

MATCHING beer with curry is no laughing matter for comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli. These two passions come together in a Scottish tap takeover of First Street’s new Brewhouse, Gasworks, on Tuesday, November 29.

He has history. Ten years on from becoming a finalist in the first Celebrity Masterchef he runs his own restaurant, VDeep, in Leith on Edinburgh’s waterside, which promotes Indian cuisine alongside Scottish craft beer.

So naturally he is bringing down beers from Brewdog, Fallen, 6 Degrees North, Harviestoun and fellow Caledonian cider heroes Thistly Cross, while taking over the kitchen himself to cook three different pakoras using specially selected ales, and well as preparing a curry. Ticket holders get plates of both as well as a flight of the ales – but punters are are welcome to pop in and pick up a pint and a snack.

Tues Nov 29, 6.30pm-midnight. The Gas Works Brew Bar, 5 Jack Rosenthal Street, M15 4RA. 0161 244 5617. £11.50 (Meal & flight of ales), Free entry to bar. Buy tickets here
