Get up, stand up and listen to Turtle Bay Spotify and Don Letts podcasts

RECOGNISING that music is a major part of the Turtle Bay package, the groundbreaking Caribbean restaurant and bar is giving everyone access to its famous laid back playlists on Spotify.

Plus they have commissioned the legendary Don Letts (above) to produce a series of free-to-download podcasts called Reggae 45 and released their own CD to support emerging roots artists.

The move comes at a time when the hospitality industry is taking big notice of the inexorable rise of reggae, rum and jerk in the casual dining sector and Turtle Bay, only founded in 2010 but now leading the charge with 37 sites (including Oxford Street and Oldham Streer, reviewed here, in Manchester).

So expect huge interest in the launch of three exclusive internal lists on Spotify – The Baylis, Dancehall & Soca and Fresh Vibes – with exclusive playlists from Rohan Marley and other international artists to come.

Current themed playlists include ‘favourite reggae tracks ever’, ‘new artists they love’ and ‘weekend vibes’ featuring Dawn Penn, Toots & The Maytals, Max Romeo, Sister Nancy, Gregory Isaacs, Yellowman and, naturally, Bob Marley.

Turtle Bay, 46-50 Oldham Street, M4 1LE and 33-35 Oxford Street, M1 4BH.
