THE man never stops. Telegenic celeb chef Gino D’Acampo is to launch a new Italian fast casual dining offer – My Coffee & Deli Bar – on the lower ground floor of his Pizza & Prosecco bar in Manchester, situated in Arndale fashion retailer Next.
Following the success of this and his Gino d’Acampo: My Restaurant across the road in the Corn Exchange the new all-day venture, opening in September, will apparently “transport visitors to Naples, serving real Neapolitan coffee and Italian food, available to eat in or take away.”
Sounds similar to what home-grown neighbours Salvi’s is already doing, but Naples is Gino’s hometown. and the menu looks typical enough – hand-stretched Neapolitan pizza, homemade pasta and sandwiches served on artisan Piadina and Spianata breads (Gino’s enjoying his, above). Tiramisu and panna cotta feature among desserts.
For those tight on time, an online ordering service will be available, enabling customers to order and pay in advance, and simply collect when ready.
At a time when many hjgh street chains are tightening their belts the D’Acampo rollercoaster rumbles on. The news follows the success of his restaurants in Leeds, Harrogate, Manchester, Liverpool, Hull and London, with further restaurants to launch in partnership with Individual Restaurants.
