Go natural! Book now for Isca super supper and Where The Light Gets In wine fair

28 October 2019 by Neil Sowerby

A HARBINGER of happy natural wine times to come in Levenshulme as yet-to-open Isca bar announces a collab dinner on January 18 to showcase the twin founders’ expertise in low intervention wine and supper clubs.

It’s quite a coup for Where The Light Gets In sommelier Caroline Dubois and chef Isobel Jenkins who created the supper club Season's Eatings as they link up with Brooklyn-based ‘Sunday Suppers’ an award-winning cooking series and blog created by Karen Mordechai, a photographer, recipe developer, and stylist.

The Levy event is part of Sobremesa, Sunday Suppers’ global dinner series. Sobremesa is about celebrating friends and community, and gathering around a table with great food. The series of dinners are called ‘Golde’, appropriate for the seasons and inspired by the healing warmth of the colour.

Tickets on sale now, as befits the global remit, are $95 (£74) a head and include a 5 course menu, matching natural wines and 10 per cent of the price will be donated to The Hunger Project. Buy tickets here

The food menu is smoked cheese, pickled fruit, congee turmeric, garlic chips, seven minute egg; market panzanella, carrot, radish, bread, herbs; crispy chicken, black garlic, olives, charred leeks; apple crostata, creme fraiche, pink salt.

Where the wine gets in on Sunday, November 10

Canadian-born Caroline has been instrumental in creating the drinks offering at Stockport’s acclaimed Where The Light Gets In restaurant. There’s a chance to explore what makes it tick when WTLGI hosts a wine fair on Sunday November 10. Six natural wine importers they have worked closely with over its first three years have been invited – Tutto wines, Wines Under the Bonnet, Otros Vinos, Newcomers wines, Kiffe my wines and Modal wines, each bringing one of their winemaker to the afternoon event to introduce their wines.

It will be possible to purchase foodduring the fair, cheese from the Courtyard Dairy, pies from Littlewoods butchers and salads from Isca.
