Grape to Grain set to open a new wine shop in Ramsbottom

17 November 2017 by Neil Sowerby

JUST 18 months after opening their drinks shop/tasting room in Prestwich Grape to Grain are planning a second outlet in Ramsbottom, hoping to open in Bridge Street in time for Christmas. Their Kickstarter campaign closes on December 10.

The original, opposite Solita (formerly Aumbry) in Church Lane is a big ToM fave, testimony to the expertise of co-owners Tom Sneesby and Joannes Hubertus van Goethem.

Tom is one half of the Liquorists, whose Manchester drinks tours are the stuff of woozy legend, while his Dutch business partner (‘everyone calls me Barry’) is a walking wine and spirits encyclopedia, who has mixed cocktails in all the best places.

The pair’s aim is “to provide a fresh and youthful approach to wine, breaking down some myths and not really giving a s**t about what wine snobs might think… with awesome wines from all over the world available by the bottle and to taste from our Enomatic machine, wicked craft beers by the can, bottle and available to take away by the litre thanks to our 'Growler' system, awesome cheeses and fresh breads and our special brand of masterclass tasting.”

It’s a bold move – Ramsbottom already possesses one of the best wine shops around in  The Vineyard – but we wish them well.
