BEARD alert – The Hairy Bikers are revving up to make a return to this summer’s Bolton Food Festival. Si King and Dave Myers starred at the festival from 2009 to 2011, but filming commitments have ruled them out since. Now they are back on day two of the August Bank Holiday Weekend event (August 23-26).
Other familiar star names announced include James Martin – notching up his 11th appearance – Michelin-starred Michael Caines and Masterchef’s Gregg Wallace.
Organisers of the town centre-based festival hope to top last year’s 274,000 attendance figure with a menu that includes even more stalls selling food, drinks and crafts, live music, a gin festival, masterclasses from regional celebrity chefs, street performers, and a ffamily zone.
Michael Caines will launch the festival on Friday, August 23, before hosting a gala dinner the same night. Tickets for the celebrity chef demos and the special events go on sale late May.
