HERE at ToM we were too doughed out to mark National Pizza Day (February 9) and a whole seven days of National Pie Week (March 4-10) sounds too filling an experience, but National Margarita Day this Friday (February 2)? Bring it on.
Leading the way naturally Crazy Pedro’s, self-styled ‘part-time pizza parlour and full-time party bar’ and home to one of the finest selections of tequila and mezcal outside Mexico.
For that one day only, classic margaritas, mango and chilli margaritas, cherry cola margaritas, even marg simpson margaritas – basically, all their margs are £5 all day.
Before that, NQ bar and kitchen Tariff & Dale is hosting a Patrón Tequila Social on Thursday night (21), A special margarita menu (£5-£6) will be served against a backdrop of Latin music from DJ Dom Kozubik and will continue until Sunday 24. By then it will probably time tequila it a day!
If you really can’t break the habit, here’s T&D’s foolproof house margarita recipe.
Ingredients:50ml Patrón Silver Tequila, 25ml fresh lime juice, 10ml Patrón Citron Orange Liqueur, 2 lemon wedges and salt. Method: Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and hard shake for 10-20 seconds. Use a lime wedge to coat the outside of a coupe glass and dust with salt. Using a Hawthorn fine strainer, strain the liquid into the glass (using two strainers keeps any unwanted shards of ice getting into the cocktail). Repeat as required.
