November Chef’s Choice Menu heads a tasty line-up of River Restaurant special offers

8 November 2018

NOVEMBER doesn’t have to be a frugal month, stashing away the pennies for a Christmas blow-out – especially when there are so many terrific offers around. Take the River Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel. Their monthly changing, UK sourced Chef’s Choice Menu delivers dishes with a difference that won’t dent your wallet.

At dinner you can enjoy three-courses per person for £24.95. The November menu is packed with fresh seasonal produce, with such dishes as a starter of charred Cornish mackerel fillet and mains of Scottish, line-caught hake, slow cooked shoulder of Cheshire lamb and braised pork cheeks.

ToM’s favourite is a savoury starter of beef shin and potato terrine (above) – simple ingredients elevated by top-class technique typical of the Lowry’s kitchens. To finish? Go for chocolate cremeux (below) perhaps, the kind of smooth, intense treat you’d expect from a pastry section that has made a speciality of catering for afternoon tea.

Add on two glasses of Prosecco or selected red or white wine for just £39 per couple, and pay an additional £20 if you wish to have the full bottle of Prosecco or wine.

Purchase a voucher from the Lowry Hotel website https://www.thelowryhotel.com/dining/dining-offers/to redeem this offer. The same applies to an array of special dining offers…

Sunday Roast Lunch

Enjoy two courses and a glass of Prosecco for just £36 per couple. Three courses without the fizz is £22.50 per person.

November Afternoon Tea

Finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserve, pastries and dainty fancies washed down with tea. Traditional Afternoon Tea is £22.50 a head or with Champagne, G & T, Or Bellini £33. Or why not try our monthly themed afternoon tea for £29.50. ToM especially likes the mini-smoked salmon bagel, cream cheese and horseradish and the truffle egg and watercress sandwiches. Pick of the cakes and fancies? Has to be citrus slice with hazelnut & almond dacquoise, while the scones are the city’s best. For an autumn alternative go for the November Bonfire Afternoon Tea, which includes a toffee apple and parkin cake with orange and cinnamon cream.

Rum Cocktails at The River Bar

The River Bar team have launched a new range of rum cocktails in partnership with the Salford Rum company until November 30. There are four cocktails inspired by the flavours and spices that would have been imported into the historical Pomona Docks, under three mikes from The Lowry Hotel…

The Rum Hatten (£14.50, above) with Campari, pink port and orange bitters; The Lowry Sour (£12.50) with butterscotch schapps, pineapple juice and vanilla syrup topped off with Malbec; Rum Spritz (£14.50) with Cointreau, blood orange, peach puree, elderflower and  lemon topped off with Prosecco; Cioccolato e Crema (£12.50) with Mozart chocolate liqueur, sake, chocolate syrup and double cream.
