Street food cheese legends Mac Daddies to open in the Arndale

12 April 2018 by Neil Sowerby

CHEESED off? You bet. We missed the boat on National Grilled Cheese Day (April 12), arriving far too late, even though our office is four minutes’ walk from Northern Soul on Church Street, who were giving away 100 grilled cheese sandwiches on a first come, first served basis.

Now our next big hope for a cheese fix is if Mac Daddies make their planned 11.30am opening in the Manchester Arndale this Saturday (April 14). It will be a big leap forward for these finalists in the 2017 British Street Food Awards.

Fine tuning’s still going on at their permanent unit, but tweets from @macdddiesmcr suggest an increasing confidence that from this weekend their inimitable Mac and cheese offering will be available to a wider audience.

It will certainly up the vegan ante in the Arndale. Mac Daddies have been stalwarts of GRUB’s Plant-Powered Sundays and the Magic Rock BrewTap Vegan Feasts in Huddersfield.

Over to the Arndale and two helpings of deep-fried mac balls for ToM please!

PS, breaking cheesy news. Northern Soul are to open a second tostie-centric outlet on Piccadilly’s Station Approach.
