TASTING NOTES BY PETER AND ELAINE KINSELLA OF LUNYA

5 March 2018

Our favourite all time place to eat out in Manchester is... Hawksmoor. It’s consistently good. Fantastic service and wonderful food served in grand surroundings. The only place in the city where a steak rivals the superb Galician Chuleton.

The best dish we've eaten in Manchester recently is... At our staff Christmas party we went to Beastro and had a glorious chicken and wild mushroom pearl barley risotto dish – the flavours, textures and execution of the dish were exceptional.

Our favourite dining room in Manchester is... Manchester House. Only been once for our wedding anniversary and the food and service was incredible. We loved the open kitchen and the contemporary decor – very eye-catching.

Our favourite lunch spot in Manchester is... Cicchetti. It’s close to Lunya for when we can get away briefly and has some great light bites; I love their monkfish and king prawn skewers and love sitting at the bar with a glass of bubbly.

If we had to eat only one thing for the rest of our days it would be... our Catalan tomato bread made with traditional coca bread from Casa Mossen bakery in Catalunya and rubbed with tomatoes we import from the Boqueria in Barcelona; it’s light, healthy and full of flavour. Just perfect!

Peter and Elaine Kinsella are owners of Lunya – the authentic Catalonian Restaurant, Bar and Deli at Barton Arcade on Deansgate. Independently owned and family run, they serve up fabulous Spanish and Catalan food and drink. The deli has one of the biggest Spanish offerings in the UK and all the meticulously sourced produce is available to order online.
