The Bread Shed – freshers use your loaf!

18 August 2017

WE suspect the new venture taking over the former Pub/Zoo site on Grosvenor Street may be equally aimed at our thirsty student population. It’s called The Bread Shed and comes from a leisure group responsible for the likes of Slug and Lettuce, Yates and Walkabout.

So is any craft baking involved in this £450,000 bar and events space, opened to the public from Friday, August 25? Not so. The name pays homage to the the site’s history as the Duncan & Foster bakery last century.

Indeed its second section is appropriately named Flour & Flagon and apparently will be “the go-to place for students that won’t settle for anything less than the best. Serving a range of cask beers, cocktails and specialist gins, the room also has a menu full of honest grub including burgers, pies, grills and big plates.” Expect two for ones and happy hours naturally.

The venue promises live bands and comedians, too, with room for club nights for fans of K-Pop, guilty pleasures and alternative hits midweek and into the weekend. The space will also air a range of NFL and wrestling matches, ensuring guests are kept up to date with all the sporting action taking place around the globe.

The Bread Shed, 126 Grosvenor Street, Manchester, M1 7HL. Mon-Wed 12pm-12am; Thu 12pm-1am; Fri and sat 12pm-3am; Sun, 12pm-12am.
