The meat’s off! Central Manchester Vegan Fair preview

17 January 2017

VEGANISM can split opinion almost as much as Brexit, but there’s no denying that the Veganuary publicity ploy has really put it on the map. If you have committed yourself to the  meat and dairy-free cause for the month or are simply curious about the supposed “360 per cent rise in veganism during 2016” check out the upcoming Central Manchester Vegan Fair

The event, run by welfare charity Viva!, is taking place in the Cross Street Chapel and features 30 stalls to buy vegan produce and products, some free vegan food on offer, plus there’s a café and a projection  room showing films about the alleged iniquities of the dairy and farming industries.

Looking further ahead, on April 1 Manchester Central, The Friends Meeting House, Cross Street Chapel and the Thirsty Scholar will be hosting a much bigger gathering, the Northern Vegan Festival. 200 stalls have been confirmed for the festival, as well as talks, cookery demos and a café area.

Saturday, January 21, 10am-6pm. Cross Street Chapel, Cross Street, Manchester, M2 1NL. www.facebook.com
