TOP NORTH WEST CHEFS TAKE ON THE SOUTH IN THE DIRTY DOZEN COOK OFF

22 September 2017

WHO else but Andrew Nutter would celebrate his birthday week by leaf=ding a North West barbecue team in in a ‘Dirty Dozen’ pork-based barbecue cook-off in Cornwall.

The ebullient Norden chef took Adam Reid of The French and Simon Shaw of El Gato Negro down to the chef-led Universal Cookery & Food Festival in the Rick Stein heartland of Padstow.  The self-styled ‘Northern Nutters’ were competing against three other chef trios and narrowly missed out on victory in the event hosted by Dingley Dell Pork.

It’s not just a jolly. Known as the ‘Glastonbury’ for chefs, the festival brings together the best in the industry, inviting them to step out of the kitchen and learn about the land, produce and developments in farming through an eclectic mix of demonstrations, workshops and tours.

Each team in the cook-off had two students working with them in a fund-raisse for the charity ‘A Passion to Inspire’, with student chefs assisting all teams.
