Yum Cha means Sunday dim sum and then some at Cottonopolis

25 July 2019 by Neil Sowerby

SUNDAY doesn’t have to mean roasts. Certainly when the temperatures are going through the roof. That’s why Yum Cha at NQ bar Cottonopolis sounds such a refreshing change, perfect for a laidback Sabbath.

Each Sunday from 4pm until 10pm you can eat as much dim sum as you like over the course of a set two hour period for just £26 a head – served from a traditional trolley.

The menu itself reflects Asian night snack culture where the dishes are ever evolving. Each sitting will see the choice of 19+ dishes (mains, sides, desserts) and will feature Cottonopolis favourites alongside new dishes destined for the main menu.

Accompanying Yum Cha, and to follow there will be sharer bottles of beer, speciality wines and sharing cocktails. No need to hang around at the bar, they will bring everything to you.

Sundays have recently had a shake-up at Cottonopolis. Bottomless Brunch is now served until 3pm on the weekends and the Newton Street bar has recruited soul collective and Reform Radio regulars The Beat Boutique to curate the Sunday DJ line-up, alongside creative workshops – including flowers arrangement, ring making and tee-shirt printing. The latest addition of the Yum Cha dining element works in harmony in their mission for customers to use this day of the week to find their ‘ikigai’ - the Japanese concept meaning ‘that which makes life worth living’ ‘reason for being’. (Find more info on this at cottonopoli-nq.com/ikigai)

Cottonopolis, 16 Newton St, Manchester M1 2AE. 0161 236 5144. Booking recommended for Yum Cha.
