Aiden Byrnes freshly minted Manchester House was named The One To Watch in the National Restaurant Awards 2013. The confident Scousers talent, honed in Michelin-starred kitchens was developed in his Church Green base in Lymm and this new restaurant has the backing of Living Ventures Tim Bacon. Its a powerful alliance on level two of Tower 12 - with a jazzy bar to match. The 12 course tasting menu takes over three hours in a 76 cover restaurant. His signature dish is squab pigeon with cherries, pistachio and violet mustard. Elsewhere, truffle-poached chicken, chilled broad bean soup, razor clam, tiny fried squid tentacles with yellow pepper, cubes of black squid ink jelly and nasturtium leaves also wow. Desserts include 'Milk and honey' comprised of frozen pearls of milk, vanilla, and lemon-scented caramel and a wild take on Manchester Tart. Decor is garden shed meets architects pad and drinks range from the reasonable to the extortionate. A Marmite selection if ever there was one.
