This charming bar, restaurant and tearooms breaks the Northern Quarters cosy and retro mould by offering a truly spacious and airy environment, decked in luscious green leaves and art deco touches. Theres a checked tile floor, and jam-jar lampshades, while the full English breakfast (£8.95, organic free range eggs, sausage, bacon, black pudding, potato cake, mushrooms, grilled plum tomato, and thick cut toast) is more elegant looking than most, as befits the interior. Lighter options include honey roast ham and eggs with a toasted English muffin with soft poached eggs and hollandaise (£7.95) or an unusual three mushroom muffin (£5.75). For those seeking afternoon tea, this is a wonderful spot too. There are a number of price brackets to choose from. For a modest afternoon break tuck into two scones with clotted cream and jam (£4.75) or try a cream tea with cakes and tea as well for £8.95. The whole package including sandwiches and all of the above is £18.25. You can add chocolate-dipped strawberries and Champagne for an extra £8 per person.
