Aiden Byrne Joins Forces With Altrincham Market House For Food Celebration

27 February 2015

MANCHESTER House superchef Aiden Byrne is teaming up with Altrincham Market House to launch the Alt. Festival of Food & Drink (...& Music) over the weekend of March 27-29.

Centred on the acclaimed food hall, now restored to full operation after the pre-Christmas fire, the event bills itself as a ‘celebration of the food, the culture, the producers and the raw talent from England's north west’.

Centrepiece is undoubtedly the Sunday Supper – a single service six course seasonal tasting menu curated by Byrne and created by the Market House crew. Market regulars Reserve Wines and Jack-in-the-Box will be pairing drinks with the food – and there may even be a special festival beer from the latter.

Tickets for this meal will go on sale on Thursday March 12 at Market House Coffee with prices to be confirmed. There’s free entry to the rest of the festival, which features over 80 stallholders, from farmers to growers to makers.

A series of workshops will showcase regional talent from UK coffee barista stars from Atkinsons in Lancaster, Claire Burt, award-winning Altrincham-based cheese producer on curds and whey, Kate Goodman the BBC's wine critic tasting wines from the north west of each wine producing country and Aiden Byrne's flavour thesaurus workshop. Plus Jeremy Jackson hand making butter with the kids, bread making, cake baking and much much more...

The music for the weekend is being arranged by Manchester's Roadhouse and members of Manchester's Halle and other local ensembles will accompany diners at Sunday Supper.
