GRUB Food Fair at Fairfield Social Club is getting in the Christmas spirit at its arches home on Temperance Street. Belying the sober name, expect lashings of mulled wine and cider plus Germany’s flaming super charged version of gluhwein – ‘Feuerzangenbowle’.
Feeling festive floral? The newly opened events space is hosting Bud Garden Centre on Saturday, December 2 with classic Christmas trees for sale. The Social Club's own giant Christmas tree, just being constructed (below) is a less conventional affair.
A Santa singalong? The Grub bar team will be leading everyone in renditions of Christmas faves. Or you can leave the music to an outstanding roster of DJs.
The Christmas food fairs kick off on Friday, December 1, and across the festive period you’ll be able to enjoy street food from the best traders in the North including Mac Daddies, Sam Joseph Chocolatiers, Hip Hop Chip Shop, Yes! Doughnuts, The Gravy Train, Whats Your Beef, Yakumama, Wholesome Junkies, Bake-O-Rama and many more. All this alongside the usual locally produced beers served from Fairifeld Social Club’s huge, craft bar. Full event details here.
GRUB director Jules Bailey said “Christmas is a magic time of year and we want everyone to come along to our food fair and get a real dose of proper festive cheer, we reckon we can be a proper alternative to the city centre Christmas Markets, it’ll be a lot more laid back that’s for sure.”
