Artisan bar meets artisan goods – monthly Marketfest looks a Sunday fun day

20 September 2016

YOU can tell autumn is drawing in when the street food events and festivals duck inside. A newcomer to what is becoming a crowded scene is Marketfest at Artisan, which launches on Sunday, September 25 (12pm-5pm) inside the funky Living Ventures venue in Spinningfields.

This monthly makers market is avoiding date clashes with the long-established Makers Market that takes over Spinningfields pedestrian precincts and looks to be pinning its hopes on live music, Sunday roasts and 30 per cent off your food bill all day. Book here.

The artisan (sic) crafts menu is much as you’d expect: children’s products, collectible vinyl and hand-crafted gifts, sourced from local indie businesses such as the Manchester Bee Company (see below). Stalls are completely free with all profits going to the traders.

A kid’s corner will feature plenty of distractions including pizza making and cupcake decorating, while a magician will be on hand to entertain. Guests of all ages can enjoy face painting and capture the results via a photo booth.

From 2pm onwards live music kicks in and the big draw is spirit masterclasses, Artisan cocktail showcases, Prosecco v Champagne and a build your own Bloody Mary bar.

Artisan, Avenue North, 18-22 Bridge Street, Manchester M3 3BZ. 0161 832 4181.
