MARY-ELLEN McTague, chef of the year in the Manchester Food and Drink Awards 2013, is launching her first pop up, 4244 Edge Street tonight (September 23). It will initially run for five weeks while her restaurant, Aumbry in Prestwich, undergoes kitchen refurbishment
Located in the heart of the Northern Quarter, the 50 cover pop-up will serve a five course taster menu featuring Mary-Ellens award-winning fusion of British fine dining, traditional methods and historical cookery using the latest science and technology.
The taster menu will comprise locally sourced, deceptively simple dishes from slow cooked Cumbrian beef to signature favourites grapefruit posset and sautéed mushrooms and snails.
Mary-Ellen said: 4244s philosophy is to serve exciting, fine dining in the heart of the city without pretension. The restaurant is a place for diners to relax and socialise whilst enjoying the very best cuisine and most importantly, somewhere they can return to regularly.
The joint venture with operators Sparklestreet is Mary-Ellens first move into the city centre. All 4244 Edge St bookings are being taken via the website from September 1. Aumbry is due to re-open before Christmas after refurbishments.
