Beatnikz team to launch Lättsam – proudly indie, Scandi cafe bar

20 January 2020 by Neil Sowerby

NEWS of an exciting spring opening. Lättsam is a new café bar concept with a difference from the team behind the award-winning Beatnikz Republic Brewery and NQ bar.

Targeted as a business district workspace and networking hub, it will specialise in artisan coffee and serve an all-day kitchen menu.

Alongside there’ll be an extensive drinks list, including 40 different gins, natural wines, cocktails and from 10 craft lines a mix of own-brand beers and guests from prominent Scandinavian breweries. It’s the latter that excites ToM most.

“The initial influence for Lättsam came from a love of coffee,” says founder Paul Greetham, who only launched Beatnikz up on Red Bank in 2017.

“Putting the food menu together has a real joy to work on; and then the gins, natural wines and beers. It made this a real project of passion. We’ve always taken great pride in sourcing the best suppliers and ingredients, and this was no different.  Combined with a fiercely independent attitude, we think Lättsam can really add to the dynamic of Manchester’s vibrant coffee, food and beer scene.”

Why that name, that umlaut? “Lättsam means easy-going or light-hearted in Swedish,” explains Paul. “This ethos perfectly fits the concept we’re aiming for. The Scandinavian fit-out design is inspired by this with a focus on pale concrete brickwork and splashes of timber.”

Subject to planning, Lättsam will open this spring at 55 Spring Gardens, M2 2BY. Weekday opening hours will be 8am until late, and weekend hours will be 9am until later. Thanks to Up North Architects for the CGI image..
