Book now for Bistrotheque Classique – fun-tastic MFDF banquet

8 September 2019 by Neil Sowerby

THEY do dinners differently at Bistrotheque. So this newcomer’s contribution to the upcoming Manchester Food and Drink Festival comes complete with lashings of pizzazz.

The MFDF Dining Dome in Cathedral Gardens is hosting the Bistrotheque Classique banquet on Thursday, September 26. Arrival cocktails and a three course dinner prepared by chef director Blaine Duffy with a quality wine pairing and digestif would make it an attractive package come what may, but there’s also accompanying entertainment from pop playing pianist Xavior Roide (above, ex-Placebo), sequin-clad satirical weirdos Bourgeois & Maurice and a game of pass the parcel.

As we write there is still time to catch the soft launch before the official September 12 opening of their Manchester home, Cultureplex, a stunning transformation of the ground floor Ducie Street Warehouse.

It’s home to a large lounge, fuelled by the in-house Klatch coffee bar, a large central bar, events spaces, floral terraces, a bijou cinema, a separately owned gym BLOK (coming soon) and the new incarnation of East London pioneer Bistrotheque, famous for its all day uncomplicated food and drink offering (snazzy cocktails, legendary brunches, playful tweaks on classic dishes).

Duffy has created a few dishes especially for Manchester – check out the just released menu.  Bar manager Will Flowers mixes a mean Negroni and there’s some seriously fine meat from Swaledale in there.

It all comes under the Cultureplex umbrella, an all-day hangout aiming at creative interaction via a roster of events coming on stream later this autumn. HOME re curating the cinema programme. For the full lowdown on the venue visit our preview.
