Brewing up a storm – Scouse Sour beats off Manc rivals to win MBW City Clash

17 July 2018 by Neil Sowerby

BEETROOT beat the lot in Manchester Beer Week’s hotly contested City Clash, where brewer team collaborations from Leeds, Liverpool, London and Bristol went up against two Manchester combos. At stake the unofficial accolade of Britain’s best brewing city.

The six competing brews were launched simultaneously at bars in these cities at the start of MBW with punters voting online or via hashtag on Twitter. ToM was there at Manchester’s city centre shoot-out ‘poll booth’, The Pilcrow Pub in Sadler’s Yard and, yes, we picked the winner and now the public have agreed

Congratulation to ‘Scouse Sour’ from Team Liverpool, a team effort from Mad Hatter, Chapter, Neptune, Top Rope and Gibberish breweries. They came up with a striking settle sour style with beetroot to replicate pickled beetroot, a traditional side to trad dish Scouse.
