Budding food and drink trader? The Central Library and MFDF are here to help

27 September 2017

SQUID ink milk, the perfect pizza, Manchester gin-making and ‘shipping container cuisine’ are all on the agenda at Recipe for Success, an MFDF Fringe event at Manchester Central Library on October 3.

Contributors to this free food and drink seminar designed to inspire the city’s next wave of Manchester food and drink entrepreneurs include four of our greatest success stories  Rudy’s Pizza inn Ancoats, Black Milk, Three Rivers Gin and GRUB.

Expect to receive trade secrets, tips and hints from a panel consisting of Jason Bailey of street food promoters GRUB, Rudy’s Jim Morgan, Dave Rigby from acclaimed distillery Three Rivers and Andy Young and Oliver Lloyd-Taylor from the rapidly expanding cereal and milk bar business, Black Milk.

It’s a collaboration between Central Library’s Business and Intellectual Property Centre (BIPC) and Manchester Food & Drink Festival, offering valuable information about setting up your own fledging food and drink business.

It will be hosted by Richard Bond of SKV Communications and a trustee of the Central Library Development Trust charity. A keen home cook, Richard told us: “It was a real pleasure to host the first Recipe for Success in 2015 and everyone who took part, and those who attended, had a really engaging and rewarding night out.

“However, since then Manchester’s eating and drinking landscape has expanded rapidly, and in many different directions, and all our panellists this year have played a key part in driving the thriving and diverse food and drink scene we all enjoy today.

“It promises to be a fascinating night for anyone with an interest in starting or growing their own food or beverage company, and for people who are simply curious about what goes on behind the scenes in the world of restaurants, cafes, distilleries and street food.”

Recipe for Success, Performance Space, Central Library, St Peter's Square, Manchester M2 5PD. Tues, Oct 3, 6pm. Free.
