IT now seems a natural procession for a food business or brewery to spread out into its own town centre cafe or bar. The latest tasty example is Cheshire Smokehouse’s new venue in Wilmslow, Smoke.
This three floor woodland-themed wine bar is serving an array of small plates and sharing boards. There’s also a ‘pick your own brunch’. Ingredients are sourced via The Cheshire Smokehouse’s own butchery, bakery, smokehouse and kitchen, along with the pick of local food and drink artisans supplying the long-established Smokehouse shop at Morley Green.
Posh rustic is the look. Centrepieces are a sustainable accoya bar and a 100-year-old burnt-out ash tree alongside sheepskin rugs and wood-burning stoves. It all seems a perfect fir for a family that has been smoking and curing across 100 years and four generations.
