Chocs away as Cocoa Cabana introduce their sweet treats to Ancoats

15 August 2019 by Neil Sowerby

ANCOATS is slowly developing a sweet tooth. Not necessarily a priority for one of the coolest hoods in the universe. All the same it’s good to see Cocoa Cabana finally arrive in Murray Street, where its neighbours include Trove, Erst and Mana.

West Didsbury’s acclaimed chocolatiers were supposed to be opening this second chocolate shop last October, but it never happened. Now Wednesday, August 21 is pencilled in as launch date, bringing with it all the Burton Road favourites, plus chocolate cocktails and a salted caramel martini as part of a new late night offering (we told you it’s cool hereabouts).

We particularly want to et our sticky hands on the cocoa cabana vegan chocolate cake pops smothered with dark chocolate and Honduran cocoa nibs (main image.

There’ll also be craft beers and wines to complement classic sweet treats such as home-made chocolates, indulgent cakes, afternoon teas, lush hot chocolates and, pf course, the truffles that have won them awards from the Academy of Chocolate and Great Taste.

For daytime diners there’s fresh coffee, brownies, buttermilk pancakes, sharing boards and light bites. Chocolate lovers should go for their moresh platter, which combines an array of fruit, pretzels, brownie pieces and mallows to dip into melted chocolate. Ot try the chocolate afternoon tea – sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and salted caramel plus an in-house desserts and petit fours.

There’ll be chocolate-making workshops and cocktail classes plus artisan gifts (spoiler: some may be chocolate-based).
