PEDRO’S just got crazier – the madcap pizza bandidos’ expansion into the Northern Quarter accompanied by the unveiling of a barrel of tequila unique to these isles.
Step forward Double Barrel Reposado, by Tequila Herradura to whet the new baby Pedro’s head in a basement under Afflecks.
Crazy Pedro’s already boasts Manchester’s most enviable range of mezcal and tequila, alongside an extensive cocktail list that includes drinks such as Pedro’s Paloma No2, made with Herradura Plata, and Mango and Chilli frozen Margaritas. But the Double Barrel spirit is something else. Given an extra month in oak to the specifications of Lyndon Higginson and the Pedro’s team, it is as smooth as a rattlesnake’s slither, ripe vanilla on nose and palate.
The first 100 punters through the door on the opening night also received a limited edition t-shirt destined to become a collectable item and were fed lots of pizzas off the bonkers new menu.
Director Higginson, self-confessed alter ego of character Crazy Pedro, said: “We went on a mission earlier in the year to Mexico and to select the best Tequila Herradura for our customers to enjoy, the bottles have literally just arrived in time for our new opening and the barrel is in pride of place in our new bar. Come and join us for a shot or take a bottle home.”
Lyndon (below with co-owners Jobe Ferguson and Ross Mackenzie from neighbours Black Dog Ballroom) added: “When we opened Crazy Pedro’s on Bridge Street we wanted it to feel quite Northern Quarter so it made perfect sense to bring it here and then open with something very, very special.”
Crazy Pedro’s Part Time Pizza Parlour NQ, Short Street, off Tib Street, M1 1JG. Open 4pm-4am.
