THE restaurant big hitters took centre stage at AA Hospitality Awards at the Grosvenor House hotel on London’s Park Lane. Restaurant Gordon Ramsay was ratcheted up to 5 AA rosettes along with Tom Kitchin in Edinburgh, while fellow 5-rosetter Daniel Clifford of Midsummer House in Cambridge picked up the AA Chefs’ Chef of the Year 2015 award.
At a less exalted level Damson of Heaton Moor celebrated its sixth anniversary by picking up its first AA rosette. About time, we think at TOM.
Sister restaurant Damson at Media City may have a higher profile, but meanwhile Steve Pilling and Simon Stanley’s classic neighbourhood restaurant on Heaton Moor has maintained a significant fine dining presence (and the warmest of staff welcomes) in the suburbs.
