Double Down’s Nathan heads up sobriety celebration at Selina

20 January 2020

YOU still sticking to Dry January? Or maybe before it’s all over you want to make a late foray into sobriety? Whatever, it’s certainly worth sampling the many ingenious alternatives to booze that are now around.

That’s the focus of the Low & No Festival on Saturday, January 25 in Selina NQ’s basement Cotton Club. It promises to be a busy event in the company of key brands such as Big Drop Beers, STRYYK, Crave, London Essence, Nonsuch Shrubs, Booch and Brew Kombucha, Steep Soda and Bristol Syrup Company.

The bar will be serving a range of hand-crafted IPA, ales, stout, lager, wine, sparkling wine, kombucha, herbal tonics and cordials (all at 0.0% - 0.5%), which will be available to sample throughout the day.

The full event line up includes: 12pm Clean set from acclaimed DJ Paulette; 2pm Panel talk in Cotton covering sober self care, setting up sober spaces and events and sobriety in the hospitality and performer industries, with leading industry figures including The Sober Experiment, Bee Sober Manchester, Nathan Larkin from Selina Manchester’s own Double Down cocktail bar and Speak in Code, DJ Paulette and poet Helen Darby; 3pm Zero alcohol cocktail demo from Nathan Larkin; 4pm Surprise performance.

Throughout 2020 Cotton Club will be holding a programme of sober events, including meditation, gong baths, ecstatic dance and sober circles, and Double Down will continue to serve its extensive no low and no alcohol cocktail and fermented soda range alongside its full cocktail menu.

Nathan Larkin (pictured right in Double Down with business partner Gavin Wigley) does not drink alcohol, even though he is one of the top bartenders around.

Selina currently operates 50 locations throughout Latin America and Europe, blending hostel accommodation with co-working, recreation, wellness, and local experiences. The NQ Selina is located at 15 Hilton St, Manchester M1 1JJ.
