Ernst van Zyl's maverick magic for one night only – at The Lowry Hotel

7 July 2016

ERNST van Zyl kicks off a summer series of guest chef evenings at The Lowry Hotel’s River Bar and Restaurant on Monday, June 11 with a five course dinner that is guaranteed to push back the culinary boundaries.

The South African-raised chef/proprietor of the Lord Clyde at Kerridge near Bollington has an enviable cv with spells in the kitchens of the Fat Duck, Noma in Copenhagen and Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons and the experimental dishes that come out of his kitchen have their roots in the mentoring of maestros Blumenthal Redzepi and Blanc rather than gastropub tradition.

It seems to work. The Lord Clyde is the only pub in Cheshire with 3 AA rosettes.

Tickets for this bespoke dinner cost £45 per head and are available via this link. We await an announcement on the rest of the chefs lined up to showcase the best of modern British culinary talent.

And if you can’t make it to dinner check out a new TOM Lowry fave – afternoon tea there.
