Evuna host five course dinner to toast organic wines from Toledo

THE beautiful picture is of the vineyards of the Finca Loranque  outside Toledo. For over a decade Manchester’s specialist Spanish wine merchants Evuna have been importing their wines. Now, to celebrate the Finca acquiring organic status from the 1914 vintage onwards, Evuna’s Northern Quarter branch is hosting a five course food and wine matching dinner on Monday, January 30.

Evuna owner Jane Dowler is a big fan of organic production. She told ToM: “As with most organic produce, be it beef, eggs, apples, or dare we say it, kale, the flavours are inherent, complex, pure and delicious. Another fact: organic wine does contain half the maximum legal limit of sulphur dioxide (220), a common preservative in wine used to inhibit or kill unwanted yeasts and bacteria. It’s the main culprit, though, for those shocking hangovers, the next day. We’d say thats more than enough reason to come and try.
Finca Loranque uses none indigenous grapes such as Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon as well as traditional Tempranillo (or Cencibel as it is known around La Mancha). The 2014 vintage sees the launch of a 100 per cent Cencibel which may well prove the stand-out in an already impressive range.

Monday, January 30, 6.30pm. Finca Loranque Wine Dinner, Evuna NQ, 79 Thomas Street, Manchester, M4 1LQ. £30 a head to include all food and wine for the evening. Ring 0161 833 1130 to buy tickets.
