LORD of the Pies is one of the better puns in the food and drink game (up there with our own Beastro and Jason Doner Van) and the gourmet pies taste good, too – our recommendations are for lamb and pea keema curry and veggie option sweet potato, spinach and goat’s cheese. 

Now Chorltonites will be able to sample their range at LoP’s new cafe diner on Barlow Moor Road, their third after Stockport and Macclesfield. They are also serving seven days a week breakfasts, cakes and, it’s obligatory in Chorlton, craft ales.

Meanwhile, self-styled guilt-free, fast food takeaway Zad's has opened to cater for the suburb’s vegan collective. Dairy-free, plant-based pizzas include The Revolution (cheese, tomato, avocado, pineapple, mixed peppers and scotch bonnet chillies), or Pig Save (cheese, tomato, smoky maple strips, and smoked seitan with 50p here going to an animal charity,
