MANCHESTER coming together in the wake of Monday’s Arena bombing takes many forms. The shock waves have affected us all emotionally, but the spirit of community has shone through amazingly.

The latest act of kindness is veteran Chinese restaurant the Yang Sing, on Princess Street offering it second floor Red Room as a temporary home for Umezushi, whose MIrabel Street premises under an arch across the road from the Arena is within the continuing security cordon and so a no-go area.

The pop-up restaurant, planned for the next three days (May 26-28) will be offering the acclaimed Japanese restaurant’s sushi in its street food format, walk-ins only.

Umezushi has won many plaudits for its authentic menu of sushi, sashimi and tempura dishes (including the kaiser don bowl pictured) and co-owner Terry Huang was Chef of the Year in the 2016 Manchester Food and Drink Awards.

Umezushi pop-up opening hours – Fri 26, 5pm-11pm; Sat 27, 12pm-11pm; Sun 28, 12pm-10pm. Yang Sing, 34 Princess Street, Manchester, M1 4JY.
