How to make Dad’s day – some top T.O.M tips for Sunday, June 16

8 June 2019 by Neil Sowerby

IS red meat for red-blooded males the obligatory way to celebrate Father’s Day? Don’t all the plant-based papas feel a mite left out? Whatever, there are going to be plenty of steaks (and gallons of ale) consumed on Sunday, September 16.

Half price off a la carte for the old man at Mamucium

Andrew Green, head chef at this oddly monickered but classy restaurant inside the Indigo Hotel, is a dab hand with meat dishes such as Lancashire Hotpot with Herdwick lamb or salt-aged Cheshire beef with ox cheek suet pudding. Those are our tips for Mamucium’s Father’s Day where dads receive 50 per cent off any main meal from the a la carte menu or three-course set menu. To secure your table book online and the discount will be applied to the bill on the day, minimum two diners with one paying adult.

Free beer for dads dining at Mr Cooper’s

Mr Cooper’s, The Midland Hotel’s Modern British Brasserie, has created a special menu for Father’s Day, which includes free Peroni for any fathers dining at the restaurant.

With a menu using the best of British produce and its own in-house butchery, diners can enjoy two courses for £28 or three courses for £30, with starters such as slow cooked pork belly, scratchings and celeriac slaw, mains including homemade steak and kidney pie, garden peas and roasted potatoes and glazed vanilla brûlée and shortbread biscuits featuring on the dessert menu. Complimentary Peroni will be available at a dedicated self-serve bar in the restaurant, with dads able to go up and help themselves throughout their meal. Mr Cooper’s offers an a la carte menu on Sundays, using the highest quality of Yorkshire Black Angus and Limousin cattle, which is aged for a minimum of 28 days (main image above).

Look sharp at the Schloss

Albert’s Schloss will as usual be pouring the Pils and dispensing the Schnitzels, Spatzle and, our favourite Alpine cheesy indulgence, Sformato. Oh, and there are Father’s Day specials on the menu, too – lemonane thyme chicken with a summer potato salad and proper gravyor  a triple chocolate cheesecake, served with white choc ice cream. So forget the diet, Dad. But do take the opportunity that Sunday to become Daddy Cool. Deansgate’s Barber Barber will be situated in The Study at the Schloss from 1pm-5pm for gentlemen’s haircuts, beard trims, clipper cuts and hair & beard taming.
