It’s the season to be jolly – Saison boosts the Burton Road Bar Scene

8 September 2015

SAISON’S name says it all. The new West Didsbury bar aims to reflect seasonality in its food offering and to be serious about its beers (Saison is Belgian/French ale style). An offshoot of Chorlton’s Duylcimer, it promises to be a quality addition to the burgeoning Burton Road food and drink scene.

It’s on the site of The Violet Hour (whose owner has moved on to launch Pen and Pencil in the Northern Quarter – what a whirligig the Manchester bar scene is at present).

Saison is due to open on Friday, September 11 but West Didsburyites got a taste of things to come at last weekend’s Westfest when the bar organised a BBQ (pictured) with their street food collaborators, Hulme’s Oh My Glaze.

The bar is offering 16 beers on keg and four cask plus a roster of 40 different bottles, locally from the likes of First Chop, Blackjack, Runaway, Track and Squawk with beers from further afield from such as Danish gypsy brewer Mikkeler and San Diego’s Stone. Expect small plate (seasonal, natch) food to accompany.
