TIME was Kro was shutting bars. Now the resurgent Kro Hospitality are thinking big in their city centre plans. They already run one boutique hotel, Canal Street’s Velvet and neighbouring restaurant Mr White’s English Chophouse. Joining this Kro portfolio is acclaimed Indian restaurant Asha’s on Peter Street with plans to create a luxurious 49-bedroom hotel within the upper floors of the building.
Asha’s, a global franchise, associated with the Bollywood singing star of that name, opened opposite the Theatre Royale in 2015, catering for up to 100 people with a bar area for 60. Exec head chef Ashwani Rangta stays on under the new regime, which is a good sign.
The new hotel, which is expected to open during 2019, promises some of the largest and most extravagant suites in Manchester.
KRO Hospitality owner Kim Eivind Krohn, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Asha’s in to our expanding portfolio in Manchester. Asha’s is a much-loved brand in Manchester, adored by food fans and celebrities alike.
“We’re progressing well with our exciting plans for 47 Peter Street, and I believe the combination of a stunning new hotel and the culinary excellence and attention to detail of Asha’s together in one building will be a fantastic draw.”
Asha’s Managing Partner Susan Potter commented: ‘’We are delighted to add KRO Hospitality to our UK franchise partners and look forward to working with Kim and his team in the opening of another iconic property in Manchester. This relationship is part of a strategic alliance which will undoubtedly result in further future openings in the region’’
The Asha’s brand features 17 restaurants globally operating in five countries primarily in the Middle East. Four further restaurants are due to open in 2019 in Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, KSA and Solihull.
