Lawn Club returns to Spinningfields – with free launch drinks

4 June 2019

AMAZINGLY it’s four years since the halcyon days of the original Lawn Club with the mighty David Gale creative in the kitchen of this pop-up Spinningfields bar, soon to be mothballed in 2016 while the area was redeveloped to welcome eventually The Ivy and No.1 Spinningfields, home to 20 Stories.

At the time our review called it “an idyllic retreat from the travails of city life” and developers Allied London have maintained heir ambition to maintain the (comparative) greenness of the Hardman Square site.

So the deckchairs are back out on the lawn from Friday, June 7 for the reincarnation of The Lawn Club with an array of cocktails, craft beers, wines and – you guessed it – a weekly rotating street food offering from the covered veranda bar.

Running until the end of summer, the space will then become a permanent structure in 2020. Allied London chief exec Mike Ingall said: “The Lawn Club, which was a joint venture between Allied London and James Wrigley, was one of our biggest place-making successes when we launched it.

“Over the last few years we’ve worked hard to further the Spinningfields estate, making it a greener space that continues to be a real destination for dining and drinking. This pop-up will be a celebration of the hard work done and pre-empt the next phase of development which will see a permanent structure built on the site.”

The launch at 4pm on Friday June 7 will feature live acoustic performances and complimentary drinks for those who sign up to the mailing listThe Lawn Club, Hardman Square. Mon-Wed, 12pm-8pm, Thu-Sun 12pm-11pm.
