WE never saw Bundobust as the spiritual home of heavy metal heroes Metallica. Maybe James Hetfield’s fearsome combo are closet vegans – it just never occurred to us. But this Tuesday (June 18) to coincide with the US band’s mega gig at the Etihad Stadium the craft beer/Gujarati plant-based basement bar are paying their own culinary homage – ‘Nothing Else Vadas’.
For one night only this black version of menu favourite Vada Pav will complement Stone Brewing’s Metallica-inspired Pilsner, called Enter Night. This beer has been exclusively available at its US arena shows, and is now being made available in Europe. Bundobust has been chosen to pour the Stone Brewing x Metallica collab.
Vada Pav is Mumbai’s favourite burger. No meat, just- a deep-fried ball of spiced mashed potato, served in a brioche bun, with red an green chutneys.
Between head-banging Bundobust founder Mayur Patel told us: "With all the buzz surrounding Metallica coming to Manchester and the launch of Enter Night Pilsner, we wanted to have a bit of fun to mark the occasion.
“The dry-hopping gives the pilsner a bit of oomph, so we decided to match it by amping up the intensity of our signature Vada Pav; making it extra large, giving the potato patty a spicy chilli sauce coating, and serving it in a black bun.”
