Lovingly Artisan named as the North West’s best bakery

12 March 2020 by Neil Sowerby

WE are blessed with so many fine bakers these day and Lovingly Artisan of Altrincham Market is no stranger to accolades – the latest being named The North West's Best at this year’s Bakery Business Magazine National Bakery Awards.

They and 13 other regional finalists were presented with their awards at a glitzy London ceremony. Earlier they had also scooped a county gong for Cumbria’s best bakery. Their other base is at Plumgarths Lakeland Food Park near Kendal.

Sourdoughs are what Lovingly Artisan are all about. We heartily recommend their heritage loaf, made using Einkorn, one of the oldest grains. It’s tasty, nutritious and has one hell of a chewy crust.

Each year the annual awards celebrate the highest levels of service, product knowledge, initiative, innovation, creativity and community involvement, the awards unearth the crème de la crème of bakery industry from across the UK.

The winning bakeries are selected from hundreds of entries based on their commitment to quality, customer service, innovation, and operational best practice across a number of business areas by a team of illustrious baking industry experts.

Commenting on their win the co-owners, husband and wife Aidan Monks (pictured above) and Catherine Connor, commented: ‘’It’s a real honour to be shortlisted alongside the other finalists in this year’s National Bakery awards, as both county and regional finalists and to win both is amazing.

“The annual awards provide a magnificent stage to recognise the skills and achievements of the whole industry. They are an opportunity to shout from the rooftops and celebrate those individuals and businesses at the forefront of the UK’s burgeoning artisan bakery scene. We are proud to be able to play a small part.’’

The Lovingly Artisan duo also run a variety of workshops – full details here.
