Manchester restaurants offer free food to raise cash for blast victims

6 June 2017

FOR one day only two Manchester-based restaurants are offering food in exchange for cash donations for the families affected by the Manchester Arena bombing. Panama Hatty's and Featherblade Steak restaurants in Brown Street, Manchester will be putting on a unique spread on Friday, June 9, from noon.

Business partners Lee Brennan and Rose Chamberlain, who own a chain of four North-West restaurants, racked their brains to think how they were able to help the fund-raising. Lee said: "We felt struck by all the acts of kindness and generosity of strangers across the globe and being in the heart of Manchester we felt we needed to do something.

“When someone came up with the idea that we could throw our doors open and offer all food from our restaurant in exchange for cash donations to the Manchester Relief Fund we thought it was a spectacular idea".

Featherblade, was initially described as a ‘pop-up’, but is now a permanent fixture  next door to Panama Hatty’s, which also operates in Tarporley and Prestwich. It serves ’ the beef forequarter cut it is named after for a tenner.
