The 18th Manchester Food and Drink Festival will take place from the 10-21st September across the city and surrounding areas. The Festival’s free central “Hub” is built on Albert Square (a pop up food and drink village), whilst dozens of events take place across the city and surrounding areas too. From foraging to feasting – MFDF has a plate for all palates.
This year’s event will celebrate an
extraordinary time for the city’s food and drink scene and, with this in mind, the
Festival is pleased to announce the biggest, most exciting food jamboree yet
with collaborations from a range of the city’s food stars and visiting gastro
guests too.
The Festival’s now famous “100 Greatest Manchester Beers Fest” does what the name
suggests, and has grown, alongside Manchester’s unstoppable brewing scene, year
on year. This year, organisers have broken the beer fest’s namesake record,
surpassing all other years and are delighted to announce that there’ll be 120
beers on the menu in 2015!
Revellers
will have 7 days to taste their way around the beer map of the region as part
of a sheer beer nirvana experience from the 14th – 20th September.
The exciting likes of Cloudwater, Runaway and Alphabet are just some of the new
kids on the block that will be available from the giant, beer banquet bar this
year, alongside comparative veterans such as 7 Brothers and Squawk (formed way back in 2013!)
Of course, longer-established brewers feature too in the enormous beer bar that is the centrepiece of the Hub for the final furlong of the Festival.
The bar will sit alongside the huge range of streetfooders, foodie events and masterclasses, cocktail bar, wine bar and an excellent live music programme all taking place at the free to enter Festival Hub.

The Festival’s Wainwright Ale Trail Bar will open proceedings at the Festival Hub and will be taking
over the mammoth Festival Bar from the 10th – 13th
September, setting the tone for some serious beer appreciation before the 100
Greatest Fest rolls into the Hub. The The Wainwright Ale Trail Bar will provide ample opportunity
to savour its delicate citrussy flavours balanced... but that's just the start
of the trail. Festival-goers will be invited to explore the wonderful
combinations of hops and malts featured on the bar. For new drinkers wanting to try cask ale for
the first time it's the perfect, unintimidating introduction. The Wainwright
team will guide with simple-to-understand tasting notes and sampling sessions.
In all, there’ll be 15 different beers to choose from, including seven cask
beers from five separate breweries. In addition there are four craft keg beers
plus four European lagers, including the award winning Czech Pilsner Krosowice
making its debut. Tasting sessions will run in the Snug next to the Wainwright
Ale Trail Bar.
